Its obvious that our high salaried residents of City Hall are more worried about getting reelected than ensuring that the city’s infrastructure is properly maintained or replaced in a timely matter.
People want something for nothing all the time. They want a nice, modern well-maintained city but are not willing to support a tax rate required to support such a city.
Every time the talk of service cuts comes up at budget time, members of the public, many which are making a nice living providing those services.
I believe that property taxes need to increase by at least 10% annually to pay for everything that the public wants City Hall to provide.
Its the same with the Provincial and Federal Governments. They continually run deficits. Borrowing money. Living on credit. Interest payments required to service that debt is taking a huge chunk out of both Provincial and Federal annual income stream. In other words, taxes. Basically. the country’s unborn are going to have to deal with these debts. Is that fair to them? Is it fair to the young Canadians who are too young to vote but will be saddled with this debt? Of course not. But that is what is happening.
Deficit government budgets need to be made illegal in Canada. Won’t ever happen.
