There was some morning colour
Our high salaried government leaders can try and blame Putin and Russia for the high prices but they were going up long before Russia invaded Ukraine. The war is being used to cover-up the mishandling of the economy during the pandemic. The war is being used to cover-up all of the money that countries have been printing since 2008. The more money injected into the economy, the less value it has.
Costs rise. People spend less. People spend less, companies sell less. Companies sell less, they lay off workers. Laid off workers spend less….you can see the death spiral taking place. On top of that, companies are looking at automating whatever they can. Machines don’t get sick. Machines don’t ask for more money. Machines don’t need to sleep or eat. Machines don’t complain. Machines don’t form unions. Machines to buy things. Machines don’t pay taxes. They don’t patronize cafes or restaurants. The don’t patronize bars.
