People dump garbage at nature sites
The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) says it’s facing costly repairs following illegal dumping of garbage and hazardous waste at some of its regional properties near Thunder Bay.
A LRCA bulletin said the agency found engine oil had been dumped into outhouses at the Little Trout Bay Conservation Area in Neebing.
“Excessive garbage is also being dumped into composting toilets at Mission Island Marsh Conservation Area,” the bulletin said.
As a result, the agency says, costs associated with pumping and making repairs have increased, impacting funds available for regular maintenance and operations, the bulletin said.
The LRCA says it has also discovered that residential garbage is being “regularly” dumped at its Silver Harbour, MacKenzie Point, Mills Block and Wishart conservation areas.
There was no immediate word as to whether anyone has been ticketed.
“The LRCA’s provincial offences officers will continue to monitor the situation,” the bulletin said. – tbnewswatch.com

If there were tents set up in the area, then nobody would care.
Dumping garbage in areas is acceptable if its the ‘unhoused/addicted/mentally-ill’ doing it. Its a human right. At least, that is what our City Council keeps saying.
Sooo just relax, keep your yap shut and pay your taxes. Everything is under control.
