They talk a lot about Instacart. How that company may be charging individuals different prices for the same item depending on your previous buying habits. Algorithms. They are used to figure out what the most you will pay for an item.
Amazon uses that now as does Walmart. I suspect any app that you use to buy something online keeps track of that information.
Loyalty cards such as the Scene card were not discussed but I suspect that information gathered is used to set prices at some point.
Think about it…adding a few cents to an item’s price might seem like much but do that to millions of people on thousands of grocery items and you soon find yourself talking about millions of dollars.
