Thunder Bay – Serious Injuries Sustained In Train Hopping Incident , Say Witnesses And Police.

Serious injuries sustained in train hopping incident, say witnesses and police

A man suffered two severed limbs according to eye witnesses who say he fell from a train near Marina Park Tuesday afternoon.

Multiple workers at a nearby construction site reported seeing the man climb onto the train and said he was walking along the top of the cars when the train began to move.

People, including several of the construction workers, were yelling at him to get down, they said.

The man appeared to fall from the train when he attempted to climb down, according to witnesses.

“He was running back and forth on the sections, so he spotted a ladder. He grabbed it and tried to descend,” said Bismark Darkwah. “But when the train moves, there come some bumps … I saw him fall down, so I took my phone, called 911.”

Joe Romeo was also there. He said he did not see the man fall and, once the train cleared, crossed the tracks to check on him.

Both Romeo and Darkwah said they saw the man’s arm and his foot or the lower part of his leg severed.

The ambulance came quickly, Romeo said.

City police confirmed that the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 2 p.m., according to a news release from the Thunder Bay Police Service.

An investigation is ongoing, said police, with the involvement of the forensic identification unit.

A section of the rail line was closed off and police cautioned that there may be traffic disruptions and a visible police presence in the area. – tbnewswatch.com

Hard to feel sorry for the guy even though I know I am supposed to.

The guy is an idiot.  I believe this was not the first time he has performed this stunt.

Had he not been injured this time, I am sure he will have done it again.

He still might.
