Canada – Thunder Bay Loses Title To Regina

Regina, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg had Canada’s highest homicide rates last year

Thunder Bay continued to have a high homicide rate compared with other Canadian cities last year, but Regina had a slightly worse rate.

Statistics Canada released updated national crime data on Tuesday.

It showed the Saskatchewan capital had a homicide rate of 5.67 per 100,000 people in 2021.

That was marginally higher Thunder Bay, which had a rate of 5.63.

Winnipeg’s rate was 5.39, giving it the third worst rate among 36 Census Metropolitan Areas.

Between 2016 and 2020, Thunder Bay had the highest homicide rate among all CMAs, ranging from 5.57 to 7.15.

The 2021 rate of 5.63 per 100,000 is based on seven homicides that year, but so far this year there have already been 10.

The national average homicide rate last year was 2.06 per 100,000 people. – tbnewswatch

The ONE thing this city was good at. Our one and only national title. And now that is gone…to Regina.  Damn you Regina!

Well, you have to respect them. Tough competitors. A hard fought win. The championship could have went to either of the top three.  Winnipeg is right there every year as well.

On the bright side, it looks like we will be taking the crown back this year.
