Standing committee offers lifeline to Tennis Centre
In for a penny, in for a pound. Just make sure that the taxpayer is into the project for a penny and then no matter what the final cost will be, the taxpayer will always, and I mean ALWAYS come good for what ever funding shortfall mysteriously appears.
Happens all the time. In fact, I believe it is rare for any taxpayer funded project in this city to come in on or under the initial budget estimate. In fact, I will say such a thing does not happen.
Think of Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre. Price Arthur’s Landing, The Art Gallery presently looking for another $23 million.
Its a scam. Until governments start to say No! No More Money! this will continue to happen.
Looks to me like the tennis club has some important people on it with significant council ‘arm twisting’ ability. Not heard this council so willing to cough up $630,000 to a not city owned facility. I wonder why?
