Someone left these
Trash in context. Could have thrown them in the trash can which was very close or any of the other trash cans that this person would have walked past in order to leave the park. But they didn’t. Why bother if you do not have to? Someone will pick the trash up eventually.

Not sure. Red eyes, looks like it could be a Red-breasted Merganser. I am no expert.
I can see that the city’s population of street drinkers has discovered the new seating offerings in the downtown north core. I expect these seats to be popular amongst the Unhoused/Addicts/Mentally-Ill community.
I expect a busy summer of beggars, drunks and other social parasites frequenting the north core enjoying the chairs and flower gardens. Hilarity will ensue. Lots of trash in flower beds. Vandalism.
If we build it, they will come. The question that needs to be asked is ‘Do we really want them?’

Why cover this stuff up? Its our history.
Finally repaired this at the top of the stairs leading from Bay Street to Hillcrest Park. Could have been included as part of the construction work done at Hillcrest Park back in 2023. Cost would have been next to nothing as contractor would have had all the equipment/labour/materials on site to do the work.
Instead, it appears that the work was done separately. If that is true, then an explanation is required. Our high salaried residents of City Hall like to pay extra I guess. Nice if money is no object.
