Thunder Bay – Thursday

Not a lot to photograph this morning. Flurries still falling. Not anywhere close to what someone might call a ‘once in a generation’ snowstorm here in Thunder Bay. Not even close.  Probably a good thing.

Yesterday, there was no snow here.

Lots of drifting snow. Today is definitely a ‘leg’ day.

The Mensa candidate that recommended these grasses be planted around intersections needs to be fired. Turns out, the plants grow tall enough to block the view of drivers approaching the intersection.  Who knew that plants that grow to be tall enough to block drivers’ view while approaching an intersection would impede a driver’s view while approaching an intersection. These plants will require trimming during the growing season.  Not maintenance free.

The same grasses can be found along Marina Park Drive.  I have always believe those plants to be a danger to pedestrians.  Plus, they are very ugly.

Lots of these tracks around this morning. Snow clearing equipment was busy.

Some buildings look like they were pummeled by the snowstorm.

The sun did finally make an appearance.

This is an example of what I see as a problem in this city. On street parking.  Or actually, the lack of responsibility for the people that park on the street for clearing the snow left around their parked vehicles.  The parking is free. I think that these people should pay to use the street as a driveway but that will never happen. No politician that wants to get reelected will ever champion such a thing.  But make the people responsible for clearing the snow left could not be cleared by the plows because they ara parked there.  Is that too much to ask?

As it is, they do not have to shovel anything. If you have a driveway, you must shovel that.  If you park on the street, you get a free ride.  Does not seem fair to me.  Maybe everyone should park their vehicles on the street?

As more and more snowfalls occur, the streets become narrower and narrower eventually become single lane only.  Not ideal.

But who cares?  Not our high salaried residents of City Hall.  They could care less.
