Thunder Bay Police officer charged with theft
An officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service is facing criminal charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of trust, according to a news release from the police service on Thursday. Police said they conducted an internal investigation after receiving a complaint.
“Maintaining public confidence is a top priority and I thank those who displayed the courage to speak out,” said Thunder Bay Police Service Chief Darcy Fleury, in the written release.
Police said that the officer has been suspended with pay, in accordance with legislation.
Citing the fact that the matter is before the courts, police said they will not provide any further information. – tbnewswatch.com

I wonder if all of the investigations of the police service by government agencies brought on by Indigenous complaints has had a negative effect on the quality of the pool of applicants from which the service has to draw its recruits? Why would anyone apply for a police job here? The TBPS might not look good on your resume. It would not be my first choice. I am sure many cities are looking for police recruits including the OPP and RCMP.
