Yes, Canadians are broke. Our governments, all levels, are operating in a deficit. Even our City Hall depends on the goodness of senior levels of governments to supplement its infrastructure spending. Without that, our property taxes would be much higher.
The debts that the province and federal governments have accrued will never be paid off. The annual budget deficits will never end. How can they? In order to balance their budgets, cuts would have to be made. What would they cut? Every municipality, social service organization, various industrial complexes such as homeless, post secondary education, transgender issues and climate change have tens of thousands of jobs that have become dependent on government funding. There is no cutting off funding for any of them. That ship has sailed decades ago.
No, we are very fucked. Big time. We will be lucky to die because of “climate change”. Sadly, I don’t think our civilization is going to make it long enough for even the most pessimistic fear mongering projection to occur.
The Carbon Tax ain’t helping. Just how much of that tax is going into the pockets of our various levels of government? And for what?
