Its all about range. If you are limited to two hours of driving before requiring to recharge your battery, it does not make sense to own that type of vehicle in over 80% of the country.
Here in Thunder Bay, there are a lot of pickup trucks. Many never leave the city. However, many are used to pull trailers and boats out into “Dingo Piss Creek” where getting a recharge is impossible.
EVs might be good for city driving but leave the city and things change. Add increase power demand and you reduce range. Increase the range by increasing the size of the battery adds more weight. More weight increases the demand for power which decreases the range. See the problem? John Cadogan explains.
