A Thunder Bay Transit bus got stuck in a hole
A Thunder Bay Transit bus needed a lift after it got stuck in a hole at the intersection of John and High streets on the weekend.
The mishap happened as the operator was making a right turn from John to High at about 10:40 a.m. on Saturday morning.
A city crew had previously placed pylons and plastic fencing around a portion of pavement right at the curb, to keep traffic away from that area until repairs could be made.
Until Saturday, transit drivers had been able to successfully manoeuvre around the pylons.
A transit spokesperson told TBnewswatch the bus involved in Saturday’s incident was outside the pylons when its rear right wheels got hung up.
He said it’s not clear whether a different section of pavement had collapsed, as the incident is still under investigation.
Nobody was injured, and the bus wasn’t damaged.
Passengers were transferred to another bus soon after.
The disabled bus was lifted out of the hole by a tow truck using a crane and a sling.
A spokesperson for the city could not immediately be reached Monday for comment. – tbnewswatch

Hahahahahahahahahaha
Walked past that hole early last week. The traffic pylons were all lined up against the curb doing nothing to warn drivers about the hole. The hole, and its a very big hole, was surrounded by that flimsy plastic fencing. That is all.
There must be dozens of these holes located around catchbasins in this city. Little to noting is being done to repair them. What makes this situation worse is that many of these holes have appeared in repaired areas. In other words, a previous hole, located in the very same spot, was repaired at a previous date. Sometimes repaired more than once before.
This city is FUBAR’d. I imagine our beggars of City Hall are busy trying to get some money from Queens Park to pay for the repairs. Its obvious that this city cannot afford to maintain itself.
With any budget surplus heading into the pockets of senior administrative staff, road repairs seem to be put on the backburner. No rush.
Think about it. James Whalen tug sinks. Boulevard Lake s drained by who-knows-who, infrastructure collapsing all around…and it looks like Thunder Bay is a cinch for the Murder Capital of Canada title for 2022.
But we will have a $44 million art gallery! Yup. Priorities.
Hurrah!
